Dodger Stadium 2011
Travis Pastrana
This is the first Supercross at Dodger Stadium. I had to go and check it out. I again hooked up with the Legends and Heroes Tour and brought my bike for display. I found everyone quickly and we set up camp (so to speak). When I moved my truck out of the pits and was walking back Rolf Greenhill asked if I had seen Pastrana with his NASCAR and pointed back towards our display. I caught up to the group of enthusiastic fans now surrounding him and his car waiting for a break in the lineup. I handed him one of my cards and did a quick explanation about my endeavor. As a pioneer in the Extreme Freestyle MX I told him that he was on my list of future recipients. “COOL” was his response and I shook hands and got out of the way as the line to talk to him had grown quickly. This was the highlight of my day. Sometimes laying the groundwork is as rewarding as the delivery.
The rest of the day we had many people go through the exhibit. It is very important keep the roots alive and well. The old iron and the people who rode back then are passing on the knowledge and evolution of the sports we enjoy today. Thanks to the Legends and Heroes Tour this is happening in a big way at all of the Nationals and Supercross venues across the country. My mission with the EXTREME SPORTS PIONEERS is virtually the same in the MX world I just want to go further with all forms of motorcycle racing and to expand to all of the Extreme Sports my generation invented in our quest for fun and adrenaline.
The racing was awesome as usual. There was a good crowd for the inaugural event and I hope racing continues here in the future.
